Celebrating 3 Years of Fetch.ai Innovation Lab: From LA Hacks to a Global Agentic AI Ecosystem
From its launch at LA Hacks 2023 to empowering 5,000+ projects across 10+ countries, Fetch.ai Innovation Lab has grown into a global hub for builders shaping the future of agentic AI—driving innovation, collaboration, and real-world impact.
2026-05-08
In 2023, Fetch.ai Innovation Lab launched at LA Hacks with a clear mission: to give builders, students, researchers, developers, and founders the space, resources, and technical support to explore what agentic AI could become.
What started in one room with 20+ projects has now grown into a global innovation ecosystem! Three years later, Fetch.ai Innovation Lab has supported 5,000+ hackathon projects, expanded into 10+ countries, built affiliations with 15+ universities and organisations globally, and developed a growing team of 50+ interns helping to shape the next generation of AI innovation. This journey has not just been about growth in numbers, but rather about building products, ideas, businesses, agents, and opportunities for people who want to turn emerging technology into real-world impact.
From one launch to a global innovation network
The launch at LA Hacks 2023 marked the beginning of a focused effort to bring agentic AI technology closer to the people building with it.
Since then, Fetch.ai Innovation Lab has grown from a single launch moment into a global network of labs, collaborations, hackathons, university partnerships, and builder-focused programmes. That growth reflects more than expansion. It reflects the increasing demand for practical, accessible, and future-facing AI innovation.
The vision has always extended beyond creating AI Agents
Fetch.ai Innovation Lab is building an ecosystem that enables developers, researchers, students, founders, and enterprises to harness the full potential of AI-driven automation and autonomous technologies.
This ecosystem is supported by a clear focus on the areas shaping the next wave of innovation. From Fetch.ai’s autonomous AI agents and agentic LLMs, to Fetch Compute’s high-performance AI infrastructure, Fetch Quantum’s exploration of quantum technology, and Fetch Biotech’s AI-powered breakthroughs in life sciences, the Innovation Lab is helping builders explore how advanced technology can move from research and experimentation into real-world applications.
Startup Accelerator. Ambassador Programme. Internship Incubator
As agentic AI continues to move from concept to practical adoption, builders need more than technology. They need guidance, infrastructure, community, mentorship, funding pathways, and access to opportunities. Fetch.ai Innovation Lab was created to provide exactly that.
Through initiatives such as the Ambassador Innovator Club, the Internship Incubator Program, and the Startup Accelerator, the Lab gives people at different stages of the innovation journey the resources and support they need to build, test, grow, and scale. Whether someone is developing a new agent-based application, contributing to a hackathon, gaining hands-on experience through an internship, or turning an early-stage idea into a startup, the Innovation Lab creates an environment where innovation can move faster.
From one launch at LA Hacks to a global innovation network, Fetch.ai Innovation Lab has become a place where products, ideas, businesses, and agents are actively built.
From one partnership to 15+ global affiliations. From one room to 10+ countries
Partnerships have played a major role in the Innovation Lab’s growth. Over the past three years, Fetch.ai Innovation Lab has grown from one partnership to affiliations with 15+ universities and organisations globally. These include, but are not limited to: UCLA, Imperial College London, MIET, Stanford, University of Michigan Dearborn, IIT (Mandi, Kanpur, Madras).
These relationships have helped the Innovation Lab reach more builders, support more programmes, and create stronger bridges between education, innovation, and industry.
University and organisational affiliations are especially important in a fast-moving field like AI. They allow students and emerging builders to engage with technology earlier, apply their learning in practical ways, and connect with real-world innovation opportunities.
For businesses and institutions, these partnerships also open the door to new ideas, new talent, and new ways of thinking about what agentic AI can enable.
Looking ahead
Three years on from LA Hacks 2023, Fetch.ai Innovation Lab has grown into a global ecosystem for agentic AI innovation. The journey so far has been defined by momentum, but this is still only the beginning.
As agentic AI continues to develop, Fetch.ai Innovation Lab will keep supporting the builders, founders, students, researchers, and organisations turning this technology into real-world value.
To everyone who has supported the journey so far, thank you! The next chapter is already being built.
